.25 at a Time

Three miles. THREE.

Last weekend, I woke up early on Saturday while the rest of the house was snoozing and went for a run. I made it three miles.

And I know this may not seen like a big deal. I have run three half marathons for crying out loud! But, listen. This was the first time I have made it three miles since I or pregnant with Braun at the end of 2014. Turns out having two babies 13.5 months apart is a little hard on a gal’s body and running ability.

I had fought and clawed and worked .25 miles at a time to get here. It wasn’t pretty. It wasn’t easy. But I did it. And believe me, there were days I never thought I would again.

So to the person longing to hit the pavement again (or for the first time), just start. Work that .25 at a time. For the new mama who wonders if she will ever feel like herself, you keep fighting too. That feeling of making a goal and reaching it is worth every bit of pain.

So now…5K here I come. And, eventually, half marathon #4 will be in the books for me. Because I will keep going .25 at a time!
