What a difference a year can make! I looked back and was amazed by the progress I made in 2018. Progress that felt hard and slow at times. Progress I didn’t even realize until I pulled up the numbers.
In the last year, I lost 10 pounds. When comparing runs, I went from a 1 mile run at a 12 minute pace in January 2018 to running 3.1 miles in a 9:28 pace to wrap up the year.
There was nothing magic here. No tricks or fast fixes. (Although I did treat myself to a new pair of Brooks running shoes for Christmas that basically feel like running on pillows…)
I spent a lot of the year adding .25 a run. I stopped eating as much crap and focused on eating more veggies. I shoveled a lot of lettuce down my throat! I was far from perfect, but I was consistent and I think that may be the trick.
My point is…keep going. Keep pushing and dreaming and striving. Because one day, you will look back and be proud of how far you’ve come. I keep thinking of where I want to be on January 1, 2020 and know what a difference a year can make.
