Doing It All

“I just don’t know how you do it all.”

Two different people said that to me yesterday and I just wanted to scream at them, “trust me, I’m not!”

In the spirit of honesty, encouragement, and #reallife, please know that as we speak, every pan I own is dirty. (I didn’t even show you the pile on the stove…)

We each get the same number of hours in a day, and we can only fit so many things in. So what I prioritize will look different than what you prioritize, and that’s okay.

So when you see me publishing articles or traveling somewhere fun or spending the afternoon feeding cows, know that there is plenty that’s not getting done as well. Because the fact of the matter is, I cannot do it all.

My guess is that’s true for every woman on the planet and we need to start admitting it to fight against the impossible standards we can sometimes try and hold ourselves too.

So, in the spirit of that…my sink is full, I never wear make up, I haven’t ironed a shirt in years, and my car has what appears to be a permanent yogurt stain all over the back seat.

What about you? What’s not getting done at your house?

  1. I love your blog! It’s true, we are held to an impossible standard of when life was simpler.
Mynlaundty takes FOREVER! I have learned if I do a load a day I won’t have as much to do on the weekend. Dishes are a day or two late but my kids are happy and having a great childhood.
    Thank you for #KeepingItReal
