2017 Bucket List ✔️

It was a good year!

✔️ Visit the Thanksgiving Chapel in Dallas. I’d wanted to do this for years, but it’s a bit hard to get there because they have strange hours and you have to parallel park (which I cannot do). However, this June the stars aligned and I was able to get there. It was a beautiful chapel and my favorite part was that there were people of multiple faiths (Muslim, Jewish, Christian) all praying side by side.

<<<<<<<<<<<<
er. I feel like everyone in Texas loves his past time. I had never been, but I have to say, I am a fan now! We floated the Comal in New Braunfels while we were there for our friends’ wedding and it was awesome. {Yes, BB floated too. We put him in a tube with a bottom, typically reserved for beer coolers, and he rode right along.}

✔️ Drive through safari. On that same trip, BB and I hit up a drive through safari at Natural Bridge. I had wanted to do this for a while and it was even more fun with my kiddo in tow. But heads up, that dang zebra legit stole BB’s cap and I had to fight him off to get it back! ✔️ Bascilica of the Little Flower. A couple times I had seen the sign doe this in San Antonio, and on a work trip this year I had time to stop. It’s not in the best part of town, and the Bascilica itself isn’t in great shape. But I walked in and immediately found three of my favorite saints (Pope John Paul II, Infant of Prague, and St. Terese). Well worth the detour!

✔️ Watch an OSU game from the Club level. Admittedly, I added this to the list after it happened because it was cool enough it should have been on here! All you can eat, four different buffets, free coke, candy and popcorn, clean bathrooms, chair back seats…awesome! Story on how this happened coming soon.

✔️ Visit the Pink Pistol. Again, I had seen this store of Miranda Lambert’s in her hometown of Lindale, TX advertised and wanted to check it out for a while now. It was a short detour on a work trip. Wouldn’t go out of my way to do it, but it was cool enough to detour 10 minutes.

✔️ Finish Uncle Buddy’s book. If you have been following me for a while, you know we started this project 5 years ago. This year, we finished a book chronicling my Uncle Buddy’s tour in Vietnam. This is a source of great pride for me. I am grateful for being able to help him tell his story. {You can order from me or through Amazon here: All I Ever Wanted To Be Was a Soldier!}

✔️ Help a refugee family. For years, the Syrian refugee crisis has been on my heart. I remember reading about Aleppo and bawling as I fed BB in the middle of the night. This year, on Ash Wednesday, I felt moved to act. And through our fundraising efforts, we were able to make meaningful contributions to Amina and her family, including buying sheep, a washer, mattresses, clothing, a tv, and more.
